1986 to 1994 International Neural Network Society. Charter Member. Chairman of the Math & Theory Special Interest Group from ’90 to ’93.

1987 to 1990 Metroplex Institute for Neural Dynamics (MIND), a regional professional society for scientists interested in the theory and applications of natural and artificial neuroscience. Founder and Chairman. Served on organization and/or program committees for three annual workshops of national scope, sponsored by MIND.

1986 to 1988 IEEE Acoustics, Speech and Signal Processing Society. Program Chairman and Chapter Chairman of the Dallas Chapter.
